Okay, Jay with Blue Fox. I'm here at my friend Larry's house in Waxhaw, North Carolina.

Larry's roof was replaced after a big hailstorm back in 2011, and it's definitely starting to show some wear.

Now, some of this damage could be from foot traffic, mechanical damage, or even hail.

We're going to see if we can get another couple of years out of this roof for Larry.

First, let's take a look at this pipe boot. See that? There's a little crack right there.

We're going to install a new rubber collar over the existing boot. If you buy one of these at Home Depot, you can cut it to size. But since it's nice and hot today, the rubber is flexible enough that I should be able to stretch it right over the top.

And I want it nice and tight.

There we go!

The existing caulking is still in pretty good shape, but I'm going to add a little more sealant here for extra protection.

All right, Larry's got another pipe boot over here. This one isn't cracked like the first one, but I'm going to take care of it while I'm here.

This pipe is a little bigger, so I'll need to make a small cut in the collar to get it over the top.

There we go. Nice and tight!

Now, we've got a couple of exposed nails that need attention. I'm going to put a little sealant over those.

See that nail right there? Water could potentially get in around it. Not anymore!

Okay, one last thing. We've got a nail that's starting to pop up through the shingle. I'm going to tap that back down and seal the area.

And that's it!

There you go, Larry. Let's see if we can get you another year or two out of this roof.
